First Blush

Today is my sister's wedding day. Her wedding gift was the inspiration for my recent sewing kick. Aprons. I have made over a dozen by now and sold half, just to friends. The other half have made gifts -- like my sister's and one for a good friend's birthday.

Then, there's Ann. I finished her yesterday. She was created from a nearly 40 year old pattern that I picked up at a yard sale for just a quarter.

My mother tells a cute story about my first Raggedy Ann doll. I had spent an entire day asking for "Jenny" at a very tender age. The specific age is at question, but Mom is clear about it being no more than 2 -- an age where conversational skills are quite lacking. It was unclear to my mother what I was requesting until the handmade dolly was found and I exclaimed "Jenny"!

And the name stuck.

Her name is Jenny...the vampire version of Raggedy Ann that I will create upon my return to Milwaukee will be named Jenny too.

I like tradition.
